The Schaertl Family Scholarship Fund was established in honor of retired Red Jacket teachers George and Sal Schaertl to help Red Jacket high school students pay for college credits. We started by reimbursing RJ students for math and science Advanced Placement (AP) exams they take while in high school. The fund was later expanded to include AP exams in all subject areas.
Since a student may earn up to three college credits per AP exam (depending on the college and the score), this is an incredibly cost-effective way to help a lot of motivated students pay for their college educations.
